COVID - 19 LETS STAY HOME

Over the last week we have seen the world change in ways we have never seen before. We find ourselves globally sharing capacity to defeat the spread of the virus COVID-19.If you had told me in a 24 hour period my husband would be working from home, my kids would be at home learning online and I would have to cancel all my styling sessions for the next month and until further notice because of COVID-19, I would have laughed and said this definitely would not be possible.

With the Australian Government urging us to stay at home if we can, we know the solution to COVID-19 is clear. Thinking beyond ourselves to do what is needed to stop the spread. We know that the virus does not discriminate. Even Prince Charles has not escaped its wrath.

It is understandable that because of COVID-19 outbreak we may be feeling afraid, worried, anxious and overwhelmed. What we do know is that it is critical to stay healthy both mentally and physically at this difficult time.

With a good mindset you can use this time in isolation in a positive way. Here are some of my tips on how to use this time productively and get you looking glamorous for your return to work.

Clear out your wardrobe...Use this time to declutter your wardrobe. Get rid of items you no longer need, want or haven’t used in years. Cleaning out your wardrobe is the perfect way to clear your mind. Having order in your wardrobe will make it easier for you to make a clear decision on what to wear, giving you more time in the mornings to focus on other things. Take this opportunity to put together new outfit combinations and to rediscover garments you had forgotten had.

Wardrobe Makeover

Look after your skin...Use this time to give your skin a vacation. Going make up free, staying hydrated and treating yourself to a face mask is sure to lift your spirits and make you feel confident and refreshed for your return to work. Pamper yourself and pamper your family members.

Give yourself a manicure...With frequent hand washing and constant use of hand sanitiser you may feel like the skin on your hands is feeling dry. Take some time out to push down your cuticles, paint your finger nails and lather in some hand cream. You may even like to give your loved ones a hand massage.

Manicure

Practice new makeup...When was the last time you had a chance to update your makeup looks? YouTube is full of fabulous tutorials to teach yourself fun new eye makeup looks, how to contour or how to apply false lashes.

Makeup Tips

I would like to share my personal routine to remain calm, informed, entertained and physically active through this difficult time.
I decided I really needed a routine. Getting up and getting dressed in the morning planning each day with things I enjoy and things I have been meaning to do but have never got around to.
Actively managing my well being has been key. Taking my dog for a 20-minute walk in the morning and finding a virtual online Pilates class, has really been essential to keeping me connected and physically active.

Staying socially connected to cope with self-isolation has helped keep me sane and given me something to look forward to. Having Friday night drinks with my STYLED BY JADE & Co colleagues having a giggling was a fantastic way to end the CRAZY week it was.
My sister in-law organised a virtual family party on Saturday night which was so much fun. All my husband’s family joined the call and we were all able to have a socially distanced catch up over a bevi, having a good giggle keeping our spirits high. “The new norm” seemed to be the new hot topic of conversation from iso!!

On Sunday afternoon at 5pm we had a street party with everyone on their front porch chatting and playing silly games waiting for the 7pm clap and cheer for the frontline medical workers. I personally really feel it’s important to keep up connection.

My personal recommendation for dressing at home is that comfort is key. Whether you want to glam up or go makeup free, follow your gut and do what makes you happy. I still blow dry my hair, but I don’t wear makeup or contact lenses. I am all about the hoodie, trackies and UGG boots when in my natural habitat (don’t tell the boss) lol.

I am going to use this time to regroup, pamper myself, clean my house, clean my own wardrobe and connect with my kids and husband. We are all in this together!
