This season, the key to staying warm and looking super sleek is to get your hands on a statement cape.

The cape provides drama to any outfit, it is always chic and complimentary to both casual and evening wear.
The cape is an extremely simple, functional and practical garment. If you are sick of being overwhelmed by a big, bulky winter coat, this new trend is perfect for you.
On the runways this season we saw capes that were long, short, with buttoned details, cocoon like, cozy wool, hooded and with leather closures and buckles.
Choosing a cape, we recommend that you choose one that’s colour and cut will work well with your existing wardrobe.
Capes tend to add volume and draw attention to the upper part of your body. It’s important to think carefully about balancing out your proportions. Wearing form fitting garments on your legs, such as skinny pants and pencil skirts will give you the best overall silhouette.

Pair with: jeans and pants Bottoms, are best worn form fitting such as skinny jeans and fitted pants to balance out the volume of the cape to your upper body.

Skirts and dresses look fabulous with a cape as long as the skirt is cut short and is fitted to the leg to balance your overall silhouette.

The cape is sleeveless garment and generally has an open front. Keeping tops simple like a classic white blouse, a knitted jumper or a turtleneck are a great way to allow the garment to be the statement.

Ankle boots and riding boots pair really well with a cape and always look good with both a skirt or pants. Don’t forget to add your choice of tights to pull your look together.

Pair with: ballet flats or sports luxe trainers look great with capes. Depending on the occasion dress you look down with a sport luxe trainer or elevated it with a classic ballet flat.

Keep your accessories simple. Clutches are best worn with capes instead of a shoulder bag or crossbody bag as they can look too heavy. Keep in mind the cape is the main feature and you don’t want to add any additions to your upper body. We suggest you avoid scarves or snoods.
